Student abducted from a car in a parking lot in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The student was tortured for three days before he was released.
- Assumed motive of incident
A number of activists and opposition members were threatened, arrested or abducted in the run up to a planned anti-government protest 31st July. The assumed motive of the abduction is to create a chilling effect on outspoken members and sectors of society and their family members. A secondary assumed motive is that the abuction and interrogation were used for intelligence purposes.
